Vintage Cameras

Vintage Cameras

I have always been fascinated with cameras. My first camera was a box brownie and it inspired me to spend the rest of my life taking photographs for a living and whilst I use updated digital equipment for my professional and personal work I have a soft spot for the beauty and elegance of the old vintage cameras.I have an extensive collection of vintage cameras and am always buying more to add to it. My vintage cameras collection is displayed in my professional studio and here are some of the vintage cameras that you will find included.

My Vintage Cameras Collection

#1 Vintage Cameras: Universal Anastigmat Uniflex 1 Camera in its original box – this was my first camera and is the most cherished of my vintage cameras. It wasn’t even new when my grandmother first gave it to me and she had used it on only a few occasions to take family portraits and then stored carefully away back in its box;

#2 Vintage Cameras: A 1960’s Nippon Kogaku, which was a little known brand of Nikon. This is one of the 35mm vintage cameras and was one of the first SLR cameras that Nikon ever made and I picked it up at a garage sale. It was at the bottom of a box of old things and I only paid 50 cents for it I don’t think that it is worth much but nostalgically it was the era that I was born;

#3 Vintage Cameras: A Carl Zeiss Jena Werra with leather ever-ready case & CZJ Tessar 50mm f/2.8 lens. Carl Zeiss are famous for their lenses but this is the only camera that they actually ever made and I was very lucky to find one that was in such a good condition when I was searching the online auction. I paid a very good price for it as well;

#4 Vintage Cameras: A Vintage Clarus Model MS-35 with Velostigmat Wollensack F=2.8-50mm LENS that my brother Josh found when he was in a second hand store in London. He was backpacking at the time and just liked the look of it and the price was only a few pounds so he bought it for me as a present to add to my collection because he knew that I loved to collect vintage cameras;

#5 Vintage Cameras: A 1949 Revere Eight Movie Camera Model 67 with Kinotar with a Wide Angle Lens. This is one of those vintage cameras that you see in the old black and white movies when they are making movies. It is a classic movie camera and I love it. I have always been a huge fan of the old classic black and white movies and love sitting on a rainy day and watching some of my favorites. Just looking at this camera in my studio reminds me of that feeling I get when I watch those movies;

#6 Vintage Cameras: A Keystone 8mm Model K 26 Movie Camera Vintage Film w 3 Lens Made USA. This is the second of my vintage cameras that is a movie camera. This one used to be my grandfathers. He used to take moving pictures of everything and he was fascinated by the process of recording history – in particular of our family. Thanks to him, they are digitalized now, we have the most extraordinary footage of family and local events that depict the changes in society over a period of 50 years;

#7 Vintage Cameras: The Argus 75 Camera is similar to the box brownie vintage cameras that were once very popular with the average Joe wanting to take pictures of their families. My friend Paul who found it in the attic of his mother’s house gave this camera to me and he thought I would like to add it to my vintage cameras collection – and he was right. It is in perfect condition and it sits well with the other cameras that I have collected;

#8 Vintage Cameras: The Retina I (Type 126) in my collection was manufactured 1936-37 in Germany. This was another one of the cameras that I bought online and was amazed when I first found it. I initially lost the auction to someone who was as keen as I to add this model to their vintage cameras collection but what happened was they did not ever pay so the owner offered it to me and I was very happy to secure it for my vintage cameras collection;

#9 Vintage Cameras: The Voigtländer Vitessa Original Model Ultron 2/50 Compur-Rapid 1- 500thB is such a different looking camera, which is why I added it to my vintage cameras collection. With its fold away lens and a back that drops down it is a great piece of engineering for the time of its release. I found this one myself in an antique camera store in Germany when I was there visiting my sister and I just had to have it;

#10 Vintage Cameras: A 1947 Vintage Bolsey B2 Rangefinder Camera 35mm in my collection was given to me by one of my clients who found this in a corner of their house when they started to renovate. A cute and compact camera I cleaned it up and added it to my vintage cameras collection.

There are so many other vintage cameras in my collection, way too many to mention. These are just the favorites that I have on display but I am always adding to my collection when I find great auctions online.
